Subsidised training without drowning in paperwork
Your company has already paid for that training credit. The only thing standing between you and it is paperwork, and we can take care of that.
There's a line item almost every Spanish company pays each year and many never use: the training credit managed through FUNDAE. It isn't a grant you apply for, and it isn't a subsidy you may or may not be awarded. It's money already paid through your payroll's social security contributions, and if it isn't used before year-end, it simply disappears.
So why does so much credit go unused? Our experience with clients is unanimous: paperwork. Notification deadlines, official platforms, documentation requirements… For an HR department fighting on ten fronts, the bureaucracy ends up costing more than the training. The good news: none of it has to land on your desk.
What you need to know (in five minutes)
Without reciting the full regulations, here's what matters for making a sound decision:
- The credit is calculated on the previous year's training contributions. The bigger the workforce, the bigger the credit; small companies get a guaranteed minimum.
- Training must be notified before it starts, through FUNDAE's platform and within specific deadlines. Notify late and you can't claim.
- Attendance and content must be documented. In the event of an inspection, the company needs to show who attended, when, and what was covered.
- The credit expires on 31 December. What's not used is not recovered.
Language training for employees fits squarely within this framework: it's among the most common types of programmed training and one of the easiest to justify, precisely because its connection to the job is self-evident.
Who does what
The division of roles is simpler than it looks. The company decides which teams to train, towards what goal and with what budget, and signs off on the plan. The organising entity (that’s our role) notifies the training on time, prepares the documentation, and processes the rebate so it’s applied against your social security payments.
In practice, that means HR makes the decisions that matter and fills in precisely zero forms. From "yes" to the first session takes days, not months, because our process starts with a free discovery session where we also review the funding route with you.
Paperwork, solved by design
This is where our platform makes a real difference. Every salistem programme includes salistem hub, where participants check in at each session with an exact timestamp and the trainer logs what was covered. The result: the documentation FUNDAE may require (attendance, follow-up, progress) generates itself while the training happens, instead of being reconstructed by hand at the end.
For HR, that translates into exportable reports ready for management and for any inspection. For the company, into something even more valuable: claiming the rebate knowing the supporting documentation has been complete and orderly from day one.
Funding well is the first step to training better
There's a less obvious reading of the FUNDAE credit: used well, it changes the conversation about the training budget. When part or all of the cost is rebated, the question stops being "how much does training cost?" and becomes "what goal do we want to achieve?". That's exactly the question we like to start with: our training starts from a business goal, is delivered in the language the team needs, and is measured from start to finish.
The credit is already paid for. The paperwork, handled. All that's left is deciding which team benefits first.
Frequently asked questions
How much FUNDAE training credit does my company have?
It depends on what your company paid in professional training contributions the previous year and on headcount. Companies with 1 to 5 employees get a guaranteed minimum, and the credit grows with the size of the workforce. We'll help you calculate it in the free discovery session.
Can language training be funded through FUNDAE?
Yes. Language programmes for employees qualify as fundable programmed training, provided they are notified on time, meet the duration and attendance requirements, and are properly documented.
What happens if we don't use the credit this year?
As a general rule, credit unused by 31 December is lost, it doesn't roll over to the next year (with the specific exception of companies under 50 employees that formally opt to reserve it). It's money your company has already contributed.
Who handles the paperwork if we work with salistem?
We do. As the organising entity, we notify the training on time, prepare the documentation and process the rebate. Attendance records and reports from salistem hub work directly as supporting documentation in the event of an inspection.
